Day 1

Hong Kong to Guilin by Flight.

Depart from Hong Kong Airport(flight include), and arrive at Guilin Airport. Our guide and drive will meet you at Guilin airport and take you to your hotel. You are free to rest and or explore the city around your hotel.

Day 2

Guilin

Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo.

We will start our tour with a Li River Cruise. The cruise along the Li River between Guilin and Yangshuo is an unforgettable experience. As you take in the stunning scenery there's something interesting to see at almost every bend in the river. The cruise takes about fours hours and lunch is provided on the boat. At Yangshuo, you have time to walk around famous West Street which is a meeting point for travelers from all over the world.

Day 3

Guilin to Chongqing by Flight.

Reed Flute Cave,Folded Brocade Hill,Elephant Trunk Hill

Today we will visit three scenic spots in Guilin City. Reed Flute Cave is a magic land of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains, birds, plants and animals in fantastic shapes and colors. After lunch at local restaurant, we will continue the trip to Folded Brocade Hill, which looks like a pile of colorful folded silk. The last stop is Elephant Trunk Hill which is the symbol of Guilin. Our guide and driver will take you to airport for your flights to Chongqing. Our guide will meet you at Chongqing airport.

Day 4

Yangtze

Board the ship from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and departs Chongqing at 9:00pm.(Dinner is not included),Goose Neck Park,Panda Room in Chongqing Zoo,Ciqikou Old Town

Before start your Yangtze cruise, visit several interesting sights in Chongqing. Goose Neck Park is first. This is a popular place for locals who play Mahjong, make music or just relax everyday. You can join in them to play Mahjongg if your interested. The pandas in Chongqing Zoo are next. Panda Room at the zoo has the giant and lesser pandas as well as baby pandas. After lunch at good local restaurant, we will go to Ciqinkou Old Town which remains an authentic and busy community as it was in times past. The old wooden houses and narrow streets furthest from the river are quite original. Our guide and driver will take you to Chaotianmen dock to board your Yangtze cruise in the late afternoon.

Day 5

Welcoming Banquet, Dancing Party, Shore excursion to Shibaozhai(14;00-16;00).Optinal tour to Fengdu Ghost City(RMB260 per person).

Shibaozhai, literally means Stone Treasure Fortress, Located in Zhong County, it was first built in Qing Dynasty in 1750. Shibaozhai is one historic site that will look much different in 2009. The wooden architecture stands on the riverside. It is built by catch upon a rectangular rock with sheer cliffs with a height of 56 meters and 12 stories. And every floor of the wooden structure contains interesting artifacts. Each of the 12 floors of Shibaozhai is dedicated to a famous general of the Three Kingdoms period (220-265AD), a local scholar or a renowned Chinese poet.Morning Taichi lesson at 6am for early birds. Today's shore excursion is to Fengdu Ghost City which is where the devil lives, according to Chinese legend. They say that spirits go to heaven, and evil goes to Fengdu. After lunch relax on the sundeck while the scenery passes. The Captain's welcome dinner presents specialties from Yangtze river area. The crews present a dance show.

Day 6

Yangtze

Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, Shennong Stream(1:30pm-5:30pm), Crew's Performance

Passes through the 1st gorge--Qutang Gorge. Passes through the 2cd gorge---Wu Gorge. Shore excursion to Shennong Stream(1:30pm-5:30pm). You have the option of visiting White Emperor City(RMB260 per person). Crew's Performance. Sails through the 5-steps Ship locks. Shennong Stream is another tributary of the Yangtze River, and its fast-flowing, crystal clear water runs southwards through deep gorges. The stream races past large and small karst caves, flocks of swallows, sheer cliffs, deep gorges, waterfalls, three-colored springs, rapids, the ancient plank path, a suspended coffin in the cliff, groups of ancient tombs and marvelous karst formationsToday, the ship passes two of the Three Gorges – the Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge. After lunch is a shore excursion to Shennong Stream which is tributary of Yangtze river and one of the highlights of the cruise. After dinner, the Crew Perform for passengers. The ship will sail through the 5-steps lock during the night.

Day 7

Yichang to Wuhan to Guilin

Three Gorges Dam Site

Shore excursion to The Three Gorges Dam Site. Arrive in Yichang at 1:00pm. Three Gorges Dam, the largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man and it has been a dream for several generations of Chinese people. The construction of the dam formally began in 1994. The body of the dam was completed in 2003, and the whole construction has been completed in 2009. It will be 2,335 meters long, 185 meters high, 18 meters wide on the top and 130 meters wide at the bottom.The tourists can get access to the top of the dam and enjoy different kinds of photo opportunities. After breakfast, we visit The Three Gorges Dam Site, which is the largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man. The project was completed in 2009. The dam is 2,335 meters long, 185 meters high, 18 meters wide at the top and 130 meters wide at the bottom. Finish the Yangtze cruise journey when ship berths on Yichang dock and the guide will takes you to the Yichang Train Station for catch the train to Chongqing. Your Guide will meet you at Chongqing Train Station and then take you to Chongqing Airport board your onward flight to Guilin. Stay overnight in Guilin.

danke nochmal für die Unterstützung bei der Flugverspätung in Yichang.
Die Hotelkosten wurden via PayPal gutgeschrieben.

Der Aufenthalt in Chongqing mit dem Ausflug nach Dazu war sehr
interessant und wir hatten eine ausgezeichnete Führerin (Evi) und eine
sehr gute Fahrerin. Evi spricht vorzüglich Deutsch und hat ein großes
Fachwissen, was die Sehenswürdigkeiten sowie die Geschichte etc. dazu
betrifft. Das hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen. Nochmals danke an die beiden.

Die Landschaft der Schluchten ist natürlich beeindruckend und das
Schiffpersonal war sehr freundlich. Aber insgesamt waren wir von der
Kreuzfahrt - offen gesagt - etwas enttäuscht und würden sie nicht
weiterempfehlen:

In Yichang hat die Reiseleiterin in Yichang hat den Transfer gut
organisiert, sie war pünktlich an der Bushaltestelle, das hat gut
funktioniert.

Zu Shanghai möchte ich sagen, dass der Besuch im Tongli-Wasserdorf uns
sehr gut gefallen hat. Wir sind dann abends beim Spazierengehen eher
durch Zufall am "Bund" gelandet und haben hinterher im Internet gelesen,
dass dies ein sehr berühmtes Stück Shanghai ist. Eine beeindruckende
Sicht auf den Stadtteil Pudong! Hier wären Tipps durch den Reiseleiter
für die Erkundung auf eigene Faust am Abend empfehlenswert. Ansonsten
hat sich der Reiseleiter Ying in Shanghai sehr flexibel gezeigt.

Zum Schluss nochmal vielen Dank für die ausgezeichnete Organisation!

Hi Michael,

I am replying to your email regarding the Lhasa booking at the Sheraton. I know we chose the Hotel ourselves, but it was not a particularly good hotel (in my opinion). The staff however were excellent and very eager to help. I found the hotel drab and really not up to the standard of some Sheraton Hotels. I do keep in mind that in Tibet one has to lower ones standards. The Restaurant food was just okay and its representations of western meals poor and expensive.

We did have one experience which merits special mention of the people on night duty at the Sheraton. On our last night there, Colin was experiencing breathing difficulties and at about 12.30am we decided to call a doctor. I went downstairs to the night duty boy and made myself understood even though his English was poor and my Chinese impossible. Within 10 minutes we had a Doctor at our room and quickly examined Colin and brought up the Oxygen. Thankfully that was all that was needed and he was able to settle and breathe properly again. The night staff also arranged for one of their English speaking staff to come and help translate for us. All very commendable and just thought this should be mentioned to you. It was not a pleasant experience but handled very well by the staff.

The Li River cruise was fun, but the food was disgusting. I don’t think there is anything you can do about it, but really it was so poor that I would in future recommend to others that they take their own lunch. We loved our trip to China and everything that was organised for us. Everything we did was an experience in itself. By and large all our guides were excellent and enjoyable company too.

I don’t think there is anything else to comment on.

It was lovely to meet you and for you to invite us for a meal together. We wish you well.

Regarding the guides, as I previously wrote, we have used guides all over the world and the Beijing guide, “Leo”, was the best that we have ever encountered. He was very committed and conscientious. He was wonderful and made Beijing a wonderful experience, seeming like a genuine friend to everyone of us.? He worked very hard to make sure that everyone's needs and concerns were addressed – I cannot say enough to describe how much everyone in the group appreciated “Leo”.
