Frequently Asked Questions

What to Do in Guilin in One Day?

The Classic Route – Start with a Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo, taking in the breathtaking karst scenery along the way. In Yangshuo, try the local specialty Beer Fish for lunch. Spend the afternoon hiking or cycling along the tranquil Yulong River before returning to Guilin by road transfer.

The City Walk Route – Stay within Guilin city to discover its cultural gems. Visit Elephant Trunk Hill Park and the Sun and Moon Pagodas, then enjoy a bowl of Guilin rice noodles for lunch. Continue to Xiaoyao Tower, stroll through the charming Dongxi Lane, and finish the day at the historic Jingjiang Royal City.

Is it Better to Stay in Guilin or Yangshuo?

Yangshuo is generally recommended. The county has thrived on tourism, and most facilities are designed with visitors in mind. You’ll find hundreds of hotels and guesthouses set against stunning backdrops of karst hills and rivers, creating a peaceful and poetic atmosphere. Guilin, on the other hand, is a bustling city with many modern high-rise buildings, which can feel less charming compared to Yangshuo’s natural beauty and relaxed vibe.

Is there a bullet train from Guilin to Yangshuo?

Yes. There are about 22 bullet trains running daily between Guilin and Yangshuo. The train ride itself takes only 20 minutes, but both train stations are located far from the downtown areas. You may need nearly an hour to travel between the stations and the city centers. For this reason, the bullet train is best if you have a connection to another city. Otherwise, taking a direct bus between Guilin and Yangshuo is usually more convenient.
